This draft describes information used by the beta and planned features. Before launch, the site owner must confirm the operating business name, contact details, service providers, retention periods, and final practices, then update this policy to match them.
Information We Expect To Collect
Depending on the features you use, Musical Treat may collect:
- Account details such as your display name, @username, email address, phone number, and sign-in credentials.
- Song details, listening links, and the songs you send or receive.
- Game responses: Never heard it. Loved it. Added to playlist. POINT! or No Point.
- If future social features launch: friend connections, direct messages, community posts and chat messages.
- Points, leaderboard activity, prize-round results, membership plan and purchase records.
- Basic technical information needed to operate and protect the service, such as device, browser, and access log details.
How Information May Be Used
We do not sell your personal information. We use account and shipping details to manage accounts and deliver prizes. We use information to create and secure accounts, deliver song shares, run the game and points system, show song and community histories, provide chat and messaging, manage memberships and purchases, operate prize rounds, provide support, and prevent abuse.
Song Searches And Listening Services
Apple Music search sends your song or artist search terms to Apple’s iTunes Search API to show matching tracks and artwork. When YouTube search is connected, YouTube searches send those terms to Google’s YouTube Data API to show matching videos and thumbnails. Opening a listening link or player connects your browser to Apple Music or YouTube. Those services have their own privacy practices and may receive technical information such as your IP address when your browser connects to them. We will identify any additional services used by the live site before launch.
Sharing And Visibility
Song shares are intended for the recipient selected by the sender. Community posts, community song history, leaderboard details, and profile information may be visible to other members according to the controls shown in the live service. We will explain audience and privacy settings before those features launch. Do not share sensitive personal information in public community areas.
Membership And Payment Information
Paid membership purchases are blocked during the free beta. If payment processing is added, the final policy will identify the payment provider and explain what transaction information Musical Treat receives and retains. Full payment card details should be handled by the payment provider, not stored by Musical Treat, unless the final implementation expressly says otherwise.
Retention And Security
We will keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described, legal requirements, account administration, and resolving disputes. The retention periods, account deletion process, and security measures will be documented before launch. No online service can promise absolute security.
Your Choices And Requests
Members can contact point@musicaltreat.ca to request access to or correction or deletion of personal information, subject to applicable law and records we must retain. The live policy will provide a working privacy contact and explain how to make a request.
Children
The intended age requirements and any safeguards for younger members must be confirmed and published before registration opens. A parent or guardian should contact the site owner if they believe a child has provided personal information.
